A mother's phone-tracking ping sent Buffalo officers to a likely-empty house early yesterday morning looking for her daughter.

Just after 7:00 AM, Buffalo police broadcast that a mother was tracking her daughter's phone to 578 Ontario, described on the air as likely a vacant building, and asked cars to head that way to look for the girl, according to the radio traffic.

Dispatch relayed a description of a 14-year-old female last seen wearing all black, about 5 feet 2 inches and heavyset, with pink, blue and white highlights in her hair, according to the traffic. Units were assigned to search the area.

The traffic did not broadcast whether the girl was located.

Shotgun Fired in an East Otto Domestic; Man Grazed by a Round, Woman Taken Into Custody

Deputies talked parties out of a rural house with their hands up while a neighbor across the street watched it unfold live on the phone.

Beginning about 10:33 AM, Cattaraugus County deputies out of the Little Valley center responded to a domestic on East Otto Auto Road in which a shotgun was fired, according to the radio traffic. A caller identified as Ashley told dispatchers her husband and 17-year-old stepson were inside the house and that a woman she named as Laura had fired the weapon.

The responding sergeant asked that any parties come out with their hands up and no weapons, and EMS was placed on standby in case the call went sideways, according to the traffic. Dispatchers struggled with poor cell service as they tried to keep the parties on the line.

Deputies got the male occupants out of the house and recovered one firearm, then took a female into custody with the female reported grazed — a man was reported grazed by a round in the digest account — and stood down responding troopers, according to the traffic. Dispatch reported no one appeared to need medical attention and asked that EMS remain on standby at the hall.

Little Valley Mother Locks Herself in a Bathroom With a Pistol as Father Yells Through the Door

The second Cattaraugus County domestic of the morning turned on two children in the living room and a woman with a gun and no way out.

Around 12:49 PM, Cattaraugus County deputies responded to a domestic on 21st Street in Little Valley — the same address that had generated a domestic call the night before, according to the radio traffic. Dispatch relayed that a woman had gone back into the house and locked herself in the bathroom while the man was in the living room with her two children.

A dispatcher advised that no order of protection had resulted from the prior night's call, that the woman had denied charges, and that she now had a pistol on her person, according to the traffic. When a deputy suggested the woman leave the residence if she could do so safely, dispatch reported she was locked in the bathroom with the man screaming at her through the door and had no exit.

A partner on the line described the woman whispering to him and warned that if the man left he would likely be driving a silver Chrysler van, according to the traffic. Deputies ultimately separated the parties, bringing the woman outside and keeping the man inside with the children.

A man playing basketball allegedly flashed a black handgun with a red handle at a woman who had survived a shooting at the address weeks earlier.

At about 10:54 AM, Buffalo police were dispatched to a gun call at 495 Perry, Apartment G, for a man in all-black clothing said to be displaying a black gun with a red handle while playing basketball, according to the radio traffic.

An officer relayed that the female complainant would not say which car she was waiting in, so the man displayed a handgun to her, and that she had been involved in a shooting at the location two weeks earlier, according to the traffic. Officers reported watching a woman run into 495C and close the door.

The traffic did not broadcast an arrest or the recovery of a weapon.

Edison Avenue Beating Escalates to a Stabbing; Suspect Flees on Foot

A report of a woman being beaten across from a burned-down house grew into a multi-victim call and a stabbing before it cleared.

Around 11:45 AM, Buffalo police were sent to 28 Edison for a report of a black male beating a white female across from a burned-down house, with the woman in a gray sweater and the man in teal, according to the radio traffic.

Dispatch relayed that the female was bleeding from the face and that the male had gone into a brick-and-white house, reported as 45 Edison, according to the traffic. The call developed into multiple assault victims, with one female possibly stabbed.

A male stabbing victim, struck on the right hip, was transported to ECMC, and the suspect was reported fleeing eastbound on East Sullivan, according to the traffic.

81-Year-Old Man With Dementia Wanders Off Near Benz Avenue — Found Safe by Lancaster Police

The man left home before a planned Wegmans trip; his family called ahead to the store while officers canvassed the neighborhood.

At about 11:16 AM, Cheektowaga police put out a search near Benz, LeMans and Dubonnet for a missing 81-year-old man with dementia, according to the radio traffic. Dispatch described him as nearly bald, wearing a blue jacket, a white or cream-colored shirt and blue pants, and said he had walked out of the house about an hour earlier.

Dispatch relayed that the man and his wife had been planning to go to Wegmans, and that the family had already called the store to check for him, according to the traffic.

Minutes later, dispatch advised that Lancaster police had located the man and were getting ready to drop him off at home, according to the traffic.

At 10:17 AM, Amherst Police Dispatch relayed word from Buffalo Police that a man had climbed out of a group-home transport van near Main Street and Bailey Avenue, close to the Dunkin' Donuts there, after leaving a residence near Kensington.

The man was identified on dispatch as Michael Silvia, described as a white male in black shorts and a black T-shirt, with two group-home staffers following him on foot.

An Amherst patrol unit reported stopping to check a man matching the description just outside Oxford and Bailey.

Dispatch later clarified the man had simply been discharged from what officers called on the radio “CPAP” — likely a mishearing of CPEP, ECMC's psychiatric emergency program — and had refused to get back into the group home's transport van, meaning he was already back at the residence where he lived; Buffalo police said they would notify the group home.

At 9:48 AM, Amherst Police Dispatch alerted patrol units to a large pack of motorcycles eastbound on Sheridan Drive, passing Youngs Road, described as speeding and popping wheelies.

Dispatch added the group was moving at an extremely high rate of speed as it continued past Youngs Road.

Minutes later, one patrol unit was told it could disregard the call.

At 10:46 AM, Buffalo Fire dispatched Engine 2, Engine 3, Ladder 5 and Battalion 4-3 to 147 Marine Drive, between Erie Street and the Marine Drive Apartments, on a preliminary signal for an odor of smoke.

Crews searched floor by floor — checking the roof and the 11th and 12th floors after residents reported smelling something there, then working down through 10 and 9 — and reported only a slight, dissipating odor they eventually pinned to incense rather than any sign of fire.

Ladder 5 confirmed at 10:59 AM that the odor was continuing to dissipate with no sign of smoke, closing out the investigation.

At 12:36 PM, Lancaster Police were sent to the Lancaster Public Library at 5466 Broadway for a welfare check requested by a caller identified on dispatch as Logan Brink, who said a friend identified as Ryan Wigg had made comments about harming himself after being kicked out of his residence earlier that day.

Brink told the dispatcher he was bringing Wigg food and wanted him connected with help, but also disclosed that Wigg was carrying narcotics; officers were on scene within a minute.

Eden · Sisson Highway

Sheriff's Deputies Call for Chainsaws to Free Car Off Sisson Highway

At 1:53 PM, Hamburg Fire Dispatch paged East Eden units after Erie County Sheriff's deputies asked for help cutting through debris around a vehicle that had gone off the road at 8429 Sisson Highway.

Dispatch repeated the request for chainsaws to free the vehicle, and East Eden's first engine was out on the call within minutes.

East Eden 9 and a mutual-aid unit, East 183, were both sent to assist with the extrication.

One occupant was transported to Mercy Hospital.

By 2:00 PM, East Eden units had scaled the response back to a single engine holding at the scene.
